01Acceptance of these terms

By adding The Contrarian to a Discord server, running any of its commands, buying a plan, or using this website, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you set it up for a server, you're confirming you have the authority to do so. You must be at least 18, or the age of majority where you live, to buy a plan.

02What The Contrarian is

The Contrarian is a Discord bot. During US market hours it scans financial news for unusual attention on a tracked list of stock tickers, checks price and volume data, compares the setup with a small library of historical setup types, and uses an AI model (Anthropic's Claude) to write a bull/bear breakdown with a confidence score. Alerts post when that score clears a threshold. It separately tracks major US economic-calendar releases (for example NFP, CPI and Fed decisions) and posts a breakdown when the number is released.

It is an informational tool. It does not execute trades, manage money, or know anything about your finances.

03Not financial advice

Nothing The Contrarian publishes — alerts, narratives, bull or bear cases, confidence scores, historical comparisons, macro breakdowns, or anything on this website — is a recommendation to buy, sell or hold any security, or financial, investment, tax or legal advice. The same general, impersonal content goes to everyone who receives it; it is not tailored to anyone's situation.

Output is generated by AI from third-party news and market data. It can be wrong, incomplete, delayed, or based on inaccurate or stale sources. A high confidence score is the model's view of how well the evidence lines up, not a probability of profit. Historical analogs describe past, loosely similar setups and are not predictive. Past alerts say nothing reliable about future results. You are solely responsible for your own decisions; do your own research and consider a licensed professional before acting.

04Setup and use

Setup is self-serve: anyone with Discord's Manage Server permission can choose the alert channel (/setchannel), macro channel, ping roles, watchlist and confidence bar for their server. Each server can set its own confidence bar, so alerts in some servers may post below the default of 55. /request_help reaches a human if something is stuck.

Don't abuse the bot, its commands or its DMs, try to disrupt the service, scrape it at volume, or resell or redistribute its output as your own paid product without written permission.

05Plans, trials and billing

Prices shown on Whop at checkout are the ones that apply. Plans are sold and billed through Whop, which processes payment and issues a license key; we never see or store your card details. Subscriptions renew each billing period until cancelled, which you can do any time from your Whop account; access continues until the end of the period you've paid for.

One key, one place. A premium key activates one server; a personal key activates one Discord account. The bot periodically checks keys with Whop, and a cancelled or expired membership returns that server or account to the free plan automatically.

Free trial. Each server can start one 7-day premium trial with /start_trial. No payment details are needed, and the server returns to the free plan when it ends unless premium has been activated.

Refunds. Refund requests are handled case by case — contact us (see below). Payments are also subject to Whop's own terms and refund policies.

We may change plans, prices or what's included; price changes apply from your next billing period, and Whop will show the current price before you're charged.

06Affiliate program

Affiliates are credited through Whop's affiliate system when a buyer arrives through their referral link. Commission rates, eligibility and payouts are set in and paid through Whop. We may decline or remove affiliates who spam, mislead buyers or misrepresent The Contrarian — including by presenting its output as financial advice or promising returns.

07Third-party services

The Contrarian runs on Discord and depends on its platform and policies; your use of Discord is governed by Discord's terms. Payments are handled by Whop. Alert content relies on third-party news and market-data providers and on Anthropic's AI models. We aren't responsible for the availability, accuracy, security or conduct of those services.

08Availability and changes

The service is provided on an as-available basis with no uptime guarantee. Scans only run during regular US market hours, and a data-provider limit or outage can mean a ticker isn't analyzed. Features, the tracked watchlist, thresholds and scan cadence may change, and the service may be suspended or discontinued.

09Suspension and termination

We may limit, suspend or remove access for any server or account that breaks these terms or abuses the service. You can stop at any time by removing the bot from your server, pausing personal alerts with /personal_pause, or cancelling your plan in Whop.

10Disclaimers and limitation of liability

The Contrarian is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, including accuracy, timeliness, reliability or fitness for a particular purpose. To the fullest extent permitted by law, its owner and operator are not liable for any loss — including trading or investment losses, lost profits or missed opportunities — arising from use of, reliance on, or inability to use the bot, its alerts or this website. Where liability can't be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid for the service in the three months before the claim.

11Changes to these terms

We may update these terms; the date at the top shows the latest revision. Material changes will be announced in the official Discord. Continuing to use The Contrarian after a change means you accept the updated terms.
